Cheryl E. Petty, 67 formerly of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Columbus Regional Hospital after her battle with COVID-19. Cheryl was born on April 2, 1953 in Greensburg, the daughter of James Thomas and Marjorie Frances (Headlee) Bennett. She married Marvin JR Petty on June 20, 1970 at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1999.
Survivors include her daughter Sherri Petty of Central City, Nebraska; her son Bryan (Suzie) Petty of Westport; her sister – Tammi (Wade) Ryle of Greensburg; three grandchildren – Sydney Petty, Trenton Petty and Bennett Petty; and her great granddaughter Lyla. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Cheryl had many health problems throughout her life, but did work for DSI after her husband passed away as a support staff, which brought her much joy. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats.
A private burial will be held at South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, 2100 Midway Street Columbus, IN 47201. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com.
