Obituary of Floyd Emery Underwood
Floyd Emery Underwood, age 91, formerly of Bloomington, IN passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, Florida. He was born May 14, 1929 in Bedford, Indiana. He graduated from Shawswick High School. Floyd had worked at Bloomington Crushed Stone. He was the son of the late Raleigh Underwood and Lillie (White) Underwood. Floyd married Eunice Waldon on July 2, 1966 and acquired a new welcoming family. Eunice passed away on June 3, 2001. He met his companion Beverly Henrichon from Florida and has lived in Englewood, FL with her for the past 17 years. Floyd was a family man and always there to help whenever needed. He loved all kinds of racing – NASCAR, Sprint card, and go-carts. Over the years he attended many sporting activities that involved his family members. He was a long-time St. Louis Cardinals fan and if he didn’t attend he was “glued to the tube” when they played. He also enjoyed going to or watching Indiana University basketball. In his later years while in Florida he became an excellent wood carver earning many awards and ribbons. He was a member of the Charlotte County Wood Carvers, Myakka River Wood Carvers, North Port Wood Carvers, and Cultural Center Wood Carvers. Floyd is survived by a son, Terry (LeeAnne) Underwood of Monticello, IN; grandsons, Nathan and Daniel Underwood; great-grandson, Thomas Underwood; great-granddaughter, Lillie Underwood; along with numerous step-children and their families. Floyd is also survived by one sister, Mabel Reikes-Johnson of Punta Gorda, Florida. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Raymond, and Albert; and one sister, Elizabeth May. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Deremiah Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
