Herbert Waldemar Bruch

Herbert “Herb” Waldemar Bruch, 93 passed away in his sleep at home on Thursday, November 12th, 2020 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born July 18th, 1927 to Frank and Amanda Bruch in Fairbank, Iowa.
After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1951 he married Georgia Marie Peters on June 2nd.
He served in various disbursing, supply and logistic positions both stateside and abroad. He attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Bayonne, N.J., the Navy Transportation School in Oakland, CA. and earned his M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1965. He retired from the United States Navy with the rank of CDR after 22 years of service.
After his military career he joined the National Petroleum Refiners Association as the Technical Director where he worked for 20 years. Herb and Georgia, retired to Reedville, VA., where they served as docents at the Reedville Fisherman’s museum and were active church members at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Callao, VA.
He is survived by his 3 children (Mark Bruch, Amanda McNeil and Lindsley Murphy), 7 grandchildren (Eric, Jordan, Tyler, Matt, Caroline, Alison and Taylor), 2 great-grandchildren (Michael and Madison), along with his twin brother and wife, Harold and Betty Bruch. He was preceded in death by his wife and 2 sons; Eric and John.
A small, private graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
