Ardeth Ely

ARDETH ELY, 89, of Harlan, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Dupont Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1919, in Monroeville, she was a member of Harlan United Methodist Church. She was a local artist, and retired as owner/operator of her own studio and gift shop, in Harlan after 20 years, in 1990. She taught oil painting classes in the area for many years; was past member of Fort Wayne Artist Guild; and Harlan Culture Club. Surviving are her sons, Robert (Renee) Ely Jr. and John (Becky) Ely, both of Harlan; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Thelma Poyser of Milwaukee, Wis. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at Harlan United Methodist Church, Harlan, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Harlan. Burial in Harlan Memorial Cemetery, Harlan. Preferred memorials to the building fund at the church.
