SSG Alan Joseph Brockman

SSG Alan Joseph Brockman (U.S. Army) , passed away on June 8, 2013 at the age of 32. Alan was born in East Point Georgia to Deborah (Jacobs) and Steve Brockman. He is survived by Son, Steven J Brockman; Mother, Deborah Gorman (Jacobs); Father, Steve Brockman; Stepfather, James Gorman; Brother, SPC Nathan Brockman; Sisters, Angela Broadwell (Gorman), Danielle Wible (Brockman) and Dominique Brockman.
Alan Enlisted in the U.S. Army June 1st 2000. He Spent 13 Months stationed in Korea, Was a member of the Black Daggers Army Parachute Team, Deployed to Iraq three times, August 2005 – January 2006, July 2006 – October 2006, and April 2007 – June 2007. Alan enjoyed spending time with his son Steven, volunteering as a little league coach as well as Sky Diving and SCUBA Diving. Alan Graduated from Warrior Leaders course in 2003, Airborne School in 2004, and SERE Training in 2006. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant November 2007 and once again to Staff Sergeant July 2010.
SSG Brockman received numerous awards including Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, four Army good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, two Army Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, German Parachute Badge bronze, and Two Overseas Service Bars.
Alan will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington VA, where services will be held July 2nd.
