Barbara Plaster Cannaday

Barbara Plaster Cannaday, age 74, of Bassett, VA passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26 with her loving family surrounding her. She was born on June 21, 1943 to the late Eleanor Rorrer and Arval Conner Plaster. Barbara was a dedicated member of Oak Level Baptist Church who loved teaching Sunday school and bible school. She loved working in her garden where she was able to watch the birds. She also loved cooking, crocheting, the color red, and spending time with her dog and loving grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Plaster. She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Jesse Cannaday; step-daughters, Kimberly Cannaday Pate (David B.) and Karen Cannaday Rouse (Gregory L.); grandchildren, Brianna N. Rouse. Christopher D. Pate, Matthew K. Pate, and Brandon G. Rouse; brother, Wayne (Peanut) Plaster (Sylvia); sister, Debbie Burgart (Billy); sister-in-law, Elaine Plaster; son, Michael D. Cundiff; and grandchild, Dakota Cundiff. Barbara also leaves behind her loyal Black Lab, Lucy. The family also wishes to acknowledge Kathy Horton and Hayes Lawson of Privacare and Elaine and Sylvia Plaster for all of their hard work and dedication while taking care of Barbara during this difficult time. A visitation will occur on Tuesday, May 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. also at Collins Funeral Home with burial to follow at Henry Memorial Park.
