Obituary of Edna Louise McWilliams
Louise Day McWilliams Louise Day McWilliams, 97, passed away January 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold, in 1992. Since that date she has been a strong willed and independent single woman. She always said there was no other man than Harold for her. She is survived by four sons, one daughter, one sister, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her four sons, Bob, James, John and, Tom are all called Mac. It makes things easier and more difficult at the same time. If only Louise had known when they were growing up that she could have called out “Mac”, instead of running through the lists of given names until she hit upon the son she wanted. The sons are scatted across the country, as Bob lives in Georgia, James in Virginia, John in California, and Tom in North Carolina and daughter Leslie Weddle in West Virginia. Three of her five children moved to the “boonies”, as Louise called it, and she never could see the attraction. Louise was born in Kopperl, Texas, and attended North Texas College, now NTSU. There she met the love of her life, and they started their journey together. That journey took them to Maryland, to Virginia, to parts out west, and finally, when Harold retired they moved into Seven Lakes in Fort Myers, Florida. She and Harold loved to travel, especially with her sister Joy and brother-in-law Bob. They travelled extensively all through Europe. Everywhere she went Louise purchased a book about the area. She was a voracious reader with a curious mind. But the thing that her friends will remember about her is her exquisite sewing ability. Whether it was cross stitch, hardanger, black work, pulled thread--she did it all and did it well. She leaves behind a wealth of completed needlework pieces. She also designed several pieces, taught classes, and won awards for her work. She loved to do word puzzles and did them in ink. She will be missed greatly by family and friends. We hope she will find a needle and thread in Heaven. Perhaps she will be put to work embellishing angel’s wings. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. A Graveside Service with interment will be at a later date in Fort Myers, Florida.
