Noel William Patterson
March 9, 1931 – November 3, 2012
Noel William Patterson of Bloomington was born March 9, 1931 in Greenwood, Kentucky to Chester and Ruby Patterson.
Noel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home to be with the Lord on this day, November 3, 2012. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.
Noel was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Medal as well as a Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Camp Stars.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 135 and the American Legion.
Noel was employed as a truck driver by Middle Atlantic Trucking of Cincinnati, Ohio and retired from Griffith Motor Express of Bloomington, Indiana.
Noel is survived by his loving wife Doris Patterson, daughters; Sheila Patterson Morrow, Roberta(William)Clendening both of Bloomington, sons; John R.(Therese)Chambers of Bloomington, Mark S.(Star)Chambers of Solsberry, IN and William “Billy” Patterson of Cleves, Ohio.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his brother Clifford Patterson and sisters; Juanita Arthur, Debbie Claypool and Wanda James, all of Ohio.
Noel was preceded in death by his parents; Chester and Ruby Patterson, daughter; Alice Faye, brothers; Clyde, Chester, Jr., Boyd Patterson, son-in-law Leonard Morrow and his great grandson; Braeden Modglin.
Friends may call on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also in the funeral home. The Reverend’s Troy Shaffer and Tom White officiating. Burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens with the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard presiding.
