Ella Mae Hash Shifflett

Our beloved Ella Mae Hash Shifflett went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully at her home in Goochland County, VA, with devoted family at her side, after battling multiple strokes. Born to parents Gross Mastbrook and Ella Mae Cross on October 5, 1930, she grew up as an only child in Oxon Hill, MD. Before retirement, she enjoyed a career as bookkeeper and part owner of Lee’s Auto Body Supply in Charlottesville, and enjoyed volunteering for the Pinky Puppets at the Senior Center. Ella Mae was predeceased by her parents, and her husband of 37 years, Chester Lee Hash, and her later husband of 5 years, Josh Shifflett, as well as her grandson Marine Corps Sergeant Mitchell Hash. Ella Mae is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla Mae Hash Harris and Walter Harris; her son and daughter-in-law, David Lee Hash and Cynthia Hash; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, April Michelle Hash Martinez and Adolfo Martinez; her great-grandchildren, Ainsley Katherine, Alec Mitchell, and Arrick Liam Martinez; her best friend, Faye Cline; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and last but not least, her dog Doodle. For the tender medical care and attention provided to Ella Mae, the family would like to thank Dr. Mark Niehaus and Albemarle Square Family Healthcare. Service and reception will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 12:30pm at Covenant Church, 1025 E Rio Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Although grateful for condolences, there will only be a private burial at the gravesite with immediate family only.
