Obituary of Mr. Ralph Carrington Cason
Ralph Carrington Cason, 91 of Charlottesville passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Born February 18, 1923 in Charlottesville, Virginia, the son of the late Mary Lee Pittman and Leonard E. Cason, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lee H. Cason and Charles C. Cason; brother-in-law, Ralph D. Roberts. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Pamela C. Brezinski and husband Buzz; two granddaughters, Ashley E. Maynard and her husband Terry, Christen V. Brezinski; four great grandchildren, Garrett, Kellan, Landon, and Emmalyn Maynard; five siblings, Leonard Ezra Cason, Jr. and wife Isabelle, William C. Cason and wife Carolyn, Jackson P. Cason and wife Barbara, George A. Cason, Sr. and wife Hazel, and Nancy Cason Roberts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ralph served his country as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy in World War II on the U.S.S. Chester through seven major battles. After his time in the Navy, Ralph managed Piedmont Cleaners, Fry’s Spring Beach Club, worked with Bullock Corporation, and other business ventures. He was an avid collector and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. A special thank you to all the home caregivers and friends, Aileen Chua , Patty Gore, Red Herring, Christen Brezinski, and Betty Roberts. A very special thank you to Irene Woodward for all her years of dedication to Ralph and his family. Also, thank you to the staff at The Lodge at Old Trail for all the care and loving support, and the doctors and nurses at The University of Virginia Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675, The First Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice. A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Kimberleigh Wells at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 500 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA, 22902. Family will receive friends an hour prior to service. Interment will follow after service at Monticello Memory Gardens. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.Pall bears will be Wayne Cason, Larry Cason, J.P. Cason, Sandy Cason, Robby Roberts, and Buzz Brezinski.
