Obituary of Dorothy L. Shelton
Dorothy L. Shelton, 95, of Columbus entered eternal life on Saturday, November 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Columbus on October 26, 1923 to Clarence J and Hulda (Boese) Schwartzkopf. Dorothy attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School and was a 1941 graduate of Columbus High School. She then attended Business College and was employed by Cosco and Arvin before working for the Bartholomew County School System in food service administration for over 18 years. Dorothy married Ralph E. Shelton in October 19, 1947; they celebrated 51 years of marriage together. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was a part of the Sewing Circle Club. Dorothy also volunteered for Columbus Regional Hospital for 20 years and valued the wonderful friendships she made there. Dorothy loved her family and friends dearly. She is survived by her son, Richard (Mary Ann) Shelton of Logansport; daughter, Roseann (companion Jerry F. Lamb) Rediker of Columbus; step-grandson, Mitchell Volkers; granddaughters, Amanda (Tim) Glick, Atalie (Ryan) Antcliff; great grandchildren, Delilah, Elliana, Caroline and Henry Glick and Oliver Antcliff; niece, Susan Woods all of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Donald Schwartzkopf; son, Ted Shelton; son-in-law, Dennis Rediker. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Visitation will be from Noon to service time Friday. Entombment will follow in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hathaway-myers.com.
