Farmer Amburgey
August 31, 1923 – August 2, 2012

Farmer Amburgey, 88, of Columbus, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Amburgey was a retired Union Electrician, a member of New Hope Christian Church and a lifetime member of St. John's Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with John Sichting officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery north of Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Christian Church.
Born in Whitesburg, KY, August 31, 1923, Mr. Amburgey was the son of William and Stella Bowen Amburgey. He married Bessie Banks September 4, 1944, in Baltimore, Md. She preceded him in death March 29, 2010.
Survivors include a son, Ron (Katrina) Amburgey of Columbus; grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Johnson of Logansport, IN, Jarred Amburgey of Bloomington, Jordan Smith of Austin, TX, Brandon W. Smith of Boston, Mass., and David L. Smith of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Noah Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Edgar Amburgey; and brothers, Bill, Dempsey, Denver and Ossie Amburgey.
