Thelma G. Finke Breeden, 85, of Columbus, passed away at 11:25 a.m. M o n d ay, November 1, 2010, at Silver Oaks N u rs i n g Home.
Thelma was born in Bart h o l o m ew County on August 17, 1925, to Albert and Esther Armuth Finke. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed.
She graduated from Flatrock Township High School in Clifford in 1943. On February 3, 1944, she married Kenneth E. Breeden of rural Edinburgh.
Thelma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who worked at creating happy memories for her family. She enjoyed cooking and her garden and delighted in things of beauty. Besides the duties of the home, she owned and operated small businesses in the Columbus area for many years.
Thelma is survived by her husband Kenneth; sons, Kerry (Sharon) of Crestview, FL, and David of Columbus; daughters Nancy (Gary) Van Cleve of Lake Elmo, MN, and Marianne Mullikin (Robert) of Scipio; a brother, Marvin Finke of Columbus; and grandchildren, Adam Breeden, Aaron Breeden, Annie Van Cleve, Mark Van Cleve, Madeline Van Cleve, Sarah Money, Zane Money, Tabitha Halstead, Tyson Breeden and Carissa and Brittney Phillips; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Irma Steinhaus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with the Rev. Patrick Galligar officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
