Obituary of Estile H. Hibbard
Estile H. Hibbard, 88, of Connersville, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at his residence. Estile was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on July 23, 1925 to John and Maggie Harrison Hibbard and attended school there. On April 1, 1946, he was married in Corbin, Kentucky to the former Geraldine Downs. Estile was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his discharge, he came to Connersville where he was employed at American Kitchens. In 1990, he retired from Visteon and its predecessors where he had been employed for 46 years. Estile was known as the local ‘Mr. Fixit’ and general handyman. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both of Connersville. Estile loved spending time with his family and he enjoyed reading the newspapers. His favorite past times were discussing politics and watching MSNBC to stay informed. Estil is survived by his wife of over 67 years; his children and their spouses: Gary H. Hibbard and Barbara; Connie L. Telker and Bill; Peggy S. Bargo and her companion, Dale Turney, all of Connersville; his grandchildren: Todd Hibbard and his wife, Brenda of Ft. Wayne; Jill Unger and Mike of Hickory, North Carolina; Lisa Kouba, Marshalltown, Iowa; Christina Bargo, Connersville; Amanda Telker of North Dakota; three great-grandchildren: Tiphani, Blake and Rebecca Unger; Kesha Faber; a son-in-law: Rick Bargo; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Estile was precedd in death by a sister: Bernice Siler and two brothers: Dick and Junior Hibbard. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Estile's nephew, Rev Jimmy Hibbard of Corbin, Kentucky officiating. Military honors will follow by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Diabetes Support Group.
