Leroy J. Howard, 81, of Connersville, died Sunday evening, January 20, 2013, at Fayette Regional Health System, Connersville.
Leroy was a native of Winchester, Kentucky, born June 21, 1931 to Asa and Fannie King Howard. He moved to the local area with his family and attended Connersville area schools. Leroy retired from White Consolidated Incorporated and its predecessor, Design and Manufacturing where he worked as a press operator. He had also been employed at National Metal Products in Connersville. Leroy attended Higher Praise Worship Center and cherished his time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his bike and spending time outdoors.
Leroy is survived by his children and their spouses: Terry L. Howard and Kathy; Louella S. “Louie” Dwenger and Kevin, all of Connersville; his grandchildren: Kevin L Dwenger of Lewisville, Kolina S. Howard, Greg J. Stant and his companion, Kelly Brewer, all of Connersville; five great-grandchildren: Dylan C. Stant, Alexis Brewer, Courtney Stant, Kamren Stant, Izabella Garci; a brother: Edward “Bud” Howard, Tucson, Arizona; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and two sisters, Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ada Williams whom he married September 2, 1950; she died August 27, 2000.
Leroy’s funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Richie Ware at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Wednesday until the time of service where memorial contributions will be accepted to the American Cancer Society.
