Obituary of Maurice Lee Brown
Maurice L. Brown, 85, of Connersville, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Fayette Regional Health System. Maurice was born on August 3 1926, north of Dublin in Wayne County, to Russell and Mildred Meyers Brown and attended school in Milton. On October 9, 1959 at the First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, he was married to the former Grace Ann Hostvedt. He was employed at Design & Manufacturing in Connersville for 22 years, and also worked at the Doddridge and Beck Caskets in Milton. Maurice was a dedicated member of the Central Christian Church where he sang in the choir and had been designated as a Elder Emeritus. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and collector and had owned and operated motorcycle sales and service in Connersville. Maurice was honored by the Salvation Army with a lifetime achievement award for his services. Maurice is survived by his brother: Dale F Brown; of Dunkirk, a sister: Irene Earlywine, of Centerville; two brothers in law: Donald J. Hostvedt and his wife, Sally of Merrill, WI; Thomas B. Hostvedt of Plover, WI. ; several nieces and nephews, including Tim Brown and his wife, Chris of Cambridge City. In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by the only woman he ever loved and his wife of 52 years, Grace Ann Brown who died April 28, 2012; a sister: Babe Marshall and a brother: Francis Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday where memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Central Christian Church.
