P. Jeanette Helms

P. Jeanette “Mi Mi” Helms, 75, of Connersville, died Saturday afternoon, October 6, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Jeanette was born in Connersville, April 26, 1943, to Manley and Mattie Bear Hudson. She lived in and around Connersville all of her life and attended Connersville schools. On March 25, 1978, she was married in Connersville to Lewis C. “Buddy’ Helms who died May 13, 2002. Jeanette’s passion was being a caregiver to many. She was employed at area nursing homes for 28 years as a certified nursing assistant. Jeanette loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette is survived by her four children and their spouses: Annette Jones and Ellis of Connersville, Robert Browning and Pam of Battle Creek, Michigan; Debbie Harris and Aundra Harris of Columbus, Donald Browning and Becky of Connersville; step-daughter: Darlene Helms-Carlson of Indianapolis; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; her sisters: Juanita Fitzgerald and her husband, Robert; Beverly Hudson, all of Connersville; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanette was preceded in death by her daughter: Joyce Ann Browning; her granddaughter: Rachael Ann Jones; her step-son: Gregory Helms; brothers: Dwayne and Herman Hudson; sisters; Lorena “Tootie” Macke, Virginia “Ginny” Summers and Henrietta “Hank” Coleman. Jeanette’s funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Richard Ware officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section K. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
