Obituary of Dorothy Agnes Stockli
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothy on July 27, 2018. Dorothy Agnes Davidson was born December 15, 1937 to George and Iola Davidson in New Paltz, NY. She spent her childhood on the family farm and moved to the small village of Walden, NY during her teenage years. It was there that Dorothy graduated from Walden High School and shortly after met her future husband Gerald Stockli. The two were married in April of 1957 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Walden, NY. Dot and Jerry lived with their 6 children in Walden for twenty years until 1976 when a work opportunity led the family to Virginia, where they lived for 42 years. Dot was an active member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President for 2 years. As a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, she baked cookies for Hospice of the Piedmont for many years to help with their fundraising activities. She was a woman of strong faith who lived as an example of what it means to love your neighbor. Dot found joy in painting and was very good at it. She also loved to garden and knew all of the flowers by name. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always there for her Family, to fill our hearts with laughter and love. Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 10. We were blessed to share our lives with her and will miss her dearly. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald Stockli, a brother, Donald Davidson of Aiken, SC, four sons: Jerry Stockli of Spotsylvania, VA, Brad Stockli of Allenstown, NH, Thomas Stockli of Reva, VA, Andrew Stockli of Winchester, VA and two daughters Trixie Freeman of Delaplane, VA and Lori Stockli of Unionville, VA, and 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and, nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Iola Davidson of Walden, NY, Sisters Joyce Baxter of Montgomery, NY and Noreen Agnew of Walton, NY.
