Sheila Waldron Lane

Sheila Waldron Lane, 98, of Culpeper, VA, passed away September 8, 2018, in Arlington, VA. The widow of Norman R. Lane, she was born to Percy John Waldron and Elizabeth Thornton Glover Waldron in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Sheila was educated at New York University, receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1944. She was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir, the hand bell choir, and the U.M.W. Sue Murph Circle, serving as treasurer for several years. She also was a member of the C.R.H. Auxiliary, serving as president for several years and volunteering in the coffee shop for more than 30 years. She was also active in Girl Scouting as a troop leader, leader trainer, and president of two different councils in New York State; in Culpeper County she was registrar. She served as president and treasurer of the Elkwood Extension Homemakers Club at various times; was the president of Area 9 Extension Homemakers and served as regional director.
Surviving Mrs. Lane are her daughters, Karen Lane Rood and Susan G. Lane; her grandson, Jonathan M. Rood; and two great-grandsons, Nelson M. Rood and Benjamin A. Rood. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her sister, Muriel Waldron Singleton.
Funeral services will be held in the Culpeper United Methodist Church September 17, 2018, at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Randy Orndorff officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701.
