Gene Almon
June 20, 1932 – April 28, 2012

Gene Almon, 79, of Evansville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Mortons Gap, Kentucky.
Gene retired from METS as a city bus driver. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of VFW 1114 where he loved playing Bingo.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, boating, and hunting. Gene loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, he was a wonderful father.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife Mary Almon; son, Michael Almon; daughter, Suzette Wun; granddaughter, Beth Ann Wun; parents, Doy and Bessie Almon; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, June Almon, Teresa Spradley (Dennis), Brenda Owens (Robert); and Debra Jones; sisters, Marilyn Roy and Freda Elder; grandchildren, Heather Spradley, Johnnie Blake III, Nicole Ploch (Travis), Buddy Spradley, Chase Almon, Scott Almon, and Tammy Wun; great-grandchildren, Jacob Spradley, Emily Dickinson, Lukas Roberts, Lanie Roberts, Samual Blake, Mary Elizabeth Blake, Aiden Blake, and Austin Blake; and companion of 15 years, Mary Baker.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Bill Woods with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 until service time at the funeral home.
