Lyle A. Phillips

Lyle Audrey Phillips, 87, of Evansville, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at Good Samaritan Home. He was born September 4, 1925, in Boonville, IN, to the late Lyle Henry and Lela Mae (Keith) Phillips.
After graduating from Central High School, he attended Evansville College. He served over two years with distinction in the US Marines Corps. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as his friends and family would attest to, along with his kindness and generosity. Lyle acquired his airline pilot license and flew for Phillips Oil Drilling. He also worked at Evansville Courier & Press and retired from Peabody Coal.
Lyle was preceded in death by his brother, William Keith Phillips; sister, Lois (Gene) Phillips Beatty; and son, Larry Thomas Phillips
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mildred; daughters, Nancy (Daniel) Phillips Kohler and Sophia Phillips Aragon; step-sons, Gary (Renaté) Anderson, Rick (Karen) Anderson, John (Suzi) Anderson, Paul (Donna) Jourdan and Charlie Jourdan; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
