Omer Sam Ash

Omer “Sam” Ash, 94, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at WestPark Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 14, 1917 in Eckerty, IN and was one of 10 children. He was a US Marine, served in WWII, and was a member of VFW #1114. He attended University Heights Baptist Church and was employed at Royal Foods for many years as a meat cutter. Sam enjoyed gardening and spending time with his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Ash. Sam is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois (Brockett) Ash; daughter, Linda Brown (Terry); son, Steve Ash (WillaMae); grandchildren, Mary Hanson, Sally Baldwin, Derek Hart and Chris Brown; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Susie Doughty; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Alexander Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Ross Swope, with entombment. Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Alexander West Chapel and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM service time Wednesday at the cemetery.
