Obituary of Robert Paul Glick
Robert Paul Glick “Bob” On December 27th Robert Paul Glick of Fairfax, VA passed away at the age of 73. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 24, 1945. He graduated from Dormont High School in 1963 and attended the University of Pittsburgh and Youngstown State University; graduating in 1968. After graduation, Bob worked for the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) from which he retired in 2002. During his career, Bob worked on and/or led many significant reviews including those dealing with U.S. efforts to fight organized crime; agencies’ coordination efforts to fight terrorism; law enforcement’s policies and training on the use of deadly force; U.S. intelligence agencies’ alleged use of Nazi war criminals; and coordination difficulties between law enforcement and intelligence investigations. In 1970 and 1971, Bob served in GAO’s Saigon Office. For many years, Bob was GAO’s liaison to the FBI. In retirement, Bob was elected to the Board of the Stonehurst Homeowners Association, serving as President for several years. In 2014, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Jennifer. They married in 2004 after reconnecting at a high school reunion. Bob was also predeceased by his parents Harold and Beatrice Glick. Bob is survived by his brothers, Morton (Savannah, GA) and Edward (Los Angeles, CA); their wives Tonnie and Marlene, respectively; and his sister Gloria Glick (Waldorf, MD). He is also survived by his step-daughter Wendy Hutchison, her husband Ryan and his grandchildren Abigail and Cole (New Castle, PA); his nephews David Glick (New York City) and Daniel Glick (Savannah, GA); and his longtime friend Robert Dutt (Southern Pines, NC). Bob traveled the world both for work and for vacations. Trips to Russia, Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland, and France were only some of his favorites. He and his wife Jennifer enjoyed cruises along a number of European rivers. He was passionate about his favorite sports teams, especially those from Pittsburgh and was a season ticket holder for Pitt Panther football for over 40 years. He enjoyed attending programs at the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, the National Zoo, and the Smithsonian Institution. He loved spending time with his family; going to movies with his grandchildren and attending their special events; and having get-togethers with his Saigon-office friends and the many friends he made at GAO. Family will receive friends at 10am followed by a memorial service at 11am on Saturday, January 19th at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA. Burial will be at a later date at West View Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations should be made to either the Robert P. Glick Scholarship in Financial Management or the Jennifer Lynn Glick Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education at Youngstown State University. Checks should be sent to the Youngstown State University Foundation, 655 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44502 indicating the scholarship.
