Theresa Ann Ryal

Surrounded by her family, Theresa "Terry" Ryal courageously went to eternal rest on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Falls Church, Virginia. Terry was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Bertha McCann; and sister of the late Mary Ellen McCann. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Ryal in 1976 and went on to raise their seven children in McLean, Virginia for the last 40 years. Survivors include a brother, John McCann of Harrison Township, MI; her children, Laurie (Mark) Stechschulte of McLean, VA, John (Erin) Ryal of South Bend, IN, Karen (Donnie) Cates of Charlotte, NC, Jim (Jennifer) Ryal of Havertown, PA, Mary Elizabeth "Bee" of Ann Arbor, MI, Julie (Kevin) Hennick of Summerville, SC and Kathleen (Cam) Lewis of McLean, VA; 19 beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Terry should be remembered as a devoted and resilient mother, who gracefully prioritized her Catholic faith and the importance of education. She was a hospitable and cherished friend to many. A celebration of her life will begin on Monday evening, June 4, with a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. at Murphy's Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA on Tuesday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception and burial at Fairfax Memorial Park. The Ryal family extends its deepest appreciation to the Kensington Falls Church Senior Living Community for its constant compassion and care for their dear mother.
