Obituary of Gladys Coe
Gladys C. Coe, 101, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Towne House Health Center, Fort Wayne. Gladys was born June 12, 1911, the daughter of Frank and Nettie (Ricketts) Flickinger in Williams County, OH. She was a member of the West Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church, Williams Co., OH. Gladys and Russell were married for 69 years. They were lifelong members of Fort Wayne Church of God which later became the Trier Ridge Community Church. She loved serving in the church WCSC, cooking and organizing functions. She and Russell went on a mission trip to Haiti to install an electric generator and help in a school. Gladys enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, going to auctions and playing bridge with friends. She was a 60-year member of Star of the East Chapter 514 serving as Worthy Matron in 1961 and as secretary for many years. She was also a member of Past Matrons and Daughters of the Nile. Gladys and Russell enjoyed retirement years living in historical landmark Bay View Association, Petoskey, MI. Gladys is survived by her son James (Linda), two grandchildren, Sarah Gillam (Jeremiah) and Matthew Coe (Sarah) and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell and their daughter Nancy; sister Zola, and brothers Cleon and Gaython. Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Wayne St. Chapel, 420 W. Wayne, Fort Wayne, IN with calling one prior. Visitation is 5-8 pm Friday, January 18, 2013 at the funeral home with an Easter Star Service at 7:30pm. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Gladys be sent to Russell and Gladys (Flickinger) Coe Endowed Scholarship, Taylor University, 236 W.
