Mary I. Patten

Mary I. Patten, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. She was born to the late Fred W. and Josephine A. (Burton) Martin in Fort Wayne on September 4, 1930. Mary was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 47, and the Barbee Lake Association. She was a carousel enthusiast and travelled around the world with the National Carousel Association. Mary is survived by her son, Tim (Julie) Counterman; step-children, Sue (Tom) Hicks, Barbara (Gordon) Barnes, Mary (Ron) Dixon, and Tom (Lisa) Patten; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joanne Martin; 8 nieces and 2 nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Dow Counterman and Arnold Patten; brothers, Alfred and Bill Martin; and nephew, Bruce Counterman. Funeral service will be Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 10:00 am at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home (1327 N. Wells Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Burial will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Cancer Services of NE Indiana, or the American Heart Association.
