Vern Matthew Budreau

Vern Matthew Budreau, 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Vern was born on March 25, 1937, in Earl Park, Indiana, to the late Oswald and Mildred (Benner) Budreau. Vern was a member of the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966. He worked for General Electric in maintenance, as well as Fisher Brothers Paper, and Craft Laboratories. Vern contributed over 23 years to the Boy Scouts of America, and was Scoutmaster of Troop 19, as well as the recipient of the St. George Award for the development of Catholic youth in Scouting. Additionally, he was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. Vern is survived by his son, Brian (Monica) Budreau; grandson, Mitchell Budreau; granddaughter, Morgan Budreau; sister, Marlene Minnich; sister-in-law, Carol Budreau; and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Vern was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Budreau; son, Steven Budreau; and brothers, Lawrence and Branson Budreau. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (4500 Fairfield Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46807) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819) with a Rosary Service being held at 6:30 pm. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Troop 19 (Boy Scouts), Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice, or masses at church in honor of Vern.
