William "Bill" D. Roberts
September 13, 1943 – July 20, 2018
William “Bill” D. Roberts, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born September 13, 1943, in Midland, Michigan, to the late Arthur H. Roberts and Phyllis O. (DeBolt) Austin. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force before moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was an active member in the Methodist church and a Past Master of the Freemasons of Indiana (Maumee (#725)/ Waynedale Lodge (#739)). He worked in business and computer software consulting, but his passion and the majority of his career was spent serving as a church business administrator (Plymouth Congregational Church and then Good Shepherd United Methodist Church). Bill was a faithful Christian and enjoyed spreading the faith by helping those in need, incorporating his love of bears and motorcycles in the process.
Bill is survived by sons, Jeffrey (Tammy) and Michael (Kristin) Roberts; grandchildren, Robert (Kristin), Michaela, and Zachary Roberts; great-granddaughter, Annalyce Roberts; and brothers, Arthur “Hal” Roberts and Bud Cassiday. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan (Moore) Roberts.
Funeral service will be on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (420 W. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802) at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 26, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
