Maria del Pilar Diaz

Maria del Pilar Diaz, age 84, of Winchester, VA, formerly of Miami, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, VA. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Funeraria Memorial Plan Coral Gables, 1717 S. W. 37th Ave.; Miami, FL 33145. Entombment will follow in Flagler Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Diaz was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba on August 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Hilario Perez Presmanes and Maria Pilar Gandarillas. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1968 She was the beloved wife of the late Marcelino Amado Diaz and the loving mother to Hilario de Jesus Diaz and wife Stephanie of Sterling, VA, and Francisco Javier Diaz and wife Mollie Sandidge of Winchester,VA. She was the loving sister to Dr. Manuel Gandarillas, Sr., and Jesus E. Perez Gandarillas; and the devoted grandmother to Agazzi, Selam and Alma. She taught private piano lessons, but relished the role of homemaker for her family. She was a member of the St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church in Miami.
