Dautry "Doc" Cabe

Dautry F. “Doc” Cabe, age 72, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Putnam County Hospital.
Born October 28, 1939 in Sylva, N.C., he was the son of Ottis Fred and Mary Etta (Deitz) Cabe. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1962. On November 30, 1963 he married Rita M. (DeNino) Cabe and she survives.
Doc had been a supervisor with Inland Container for 23 years, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include his wife; children, Margaret (Mike) Burt of Terre Haute, Sam (Lisa) Cabe of Danville, Brian (Marilee) Cabe of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joetta (Jack) Scanland of Greencastle; two brothers, Dempsey Cabe of Troy, MI and Carlin(Alice) Cabe of Sylva, N.C.; a sister, Lillian (Roy) Morris of Brevard, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Derek McMillan, Skylar Long, Isaac Green, Jacob Cabe, Leesa Vasilon, Heather Cabe, Dakota Cabe, Michael Cabe, Codey Cabe, Zachary Cabe, Hope Scanland, and Trey Scanland; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Gaither; and two brothers, Marvin and Winston Cabe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 19th at the funeral home from 5-8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the St. Paul Catholic Church Youth Group 202 E. Washington St. Greencastle, IN. 46135.
