Obituary of Dottie Dean Cundiff
Today we celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved Dottie Dean Cundiff. Dottie, 77, passed away on January 18 at Norfolk General Hospital with her loving family by her side. She is now soaring with the angels, loving on Jesus, enjoying her great reunion with her family and friends, and of course, passing out candy to everyone entering the pearly gates. She was born in Chatham, Virginia on January 4, 1936: the youngest of nine children. She was a very loving, caring, compassionate, incredible woman, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ester Sue Cundiff; her father, Louis Edward Cundiff; her brothers, Tom and Dick Cundiff; her sisters, Thelma Murphy, Katie Davidson, Laura Brown and Sudie Haden. She was preceded in death by her two husbands – her beloved high school sweetheart of 26 years, Carlton Rudolph Stephens and Edward Kellihan. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Patricia Stephens-Horvath and Robert Horvath, Donna Stephens-Gailey and Rick Gailey, Sylvia Stephens-D’Angelo and Rosario D’Angelo, Carlton Rudolph Stephens, Jr. and Kelly Stephens; her ten grandchildren: Jonathan D’Angelo, Candace Lavoie, her spouse Leland Lavoie, Tyler Horvath, Carolyne Stephens, Ashley Gailey, Kerri Lodge, her spouse Eric Lodge, Angel Massey, Lexus Wesley, Harley Wesley, and Chase Wesley; her three great grandchildren: Dominic D’Angelo, Victoria Stephens, and Brenden Lodge. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:30 pm on Sunday, January 20 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, VA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends and family at the Gailey’s Residence at 152 Lone Oak Drive in Yorktown, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association and Susan G. Komen Foundation. At Dottie's request, guests may bring one long stem red rose in her honor. In God We Trust!
