Steve Heinselman

Dwain “Steve” Heinselman, age 59, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.
He was born October 6, 1963 in Geneva, Illinois to Doyle Dwain Heinselman and Rita Anne Heinselman. He was a 1982 graduate of Fort Myers High School. He married Jessica Whealton on October 3rd, 2015. He worked as an IT Specialist for the Department of the Army.
Steve lived life to the fullest through his interactions with others. He could often be seen spending time with friends and family, fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, Capitals hockey games, and competing in friendly games like cornhole, darts, cards, as well as spending time on Chincoteague Island. Steve had a heart of gold and cared deeply for everyone in his life. He was a very generous man and always showed true compassion for those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica Whealton; daughters, Stephanie Heinselman and Cassie Cole; mother, Rita Heinselman; Sisters, Steffi Deutsch, Becky Locksmith, and Shelly Whitley; grandchildren, Tristan, Tucker, Tobias, and Tanner Thompson, Camilla Cole, and baby Cole expected July 2023; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Doyle “Dwain” Heinselman, and his sister Melissa “Missy” Bumbalough.
Family, friends, and all of those whose lives were touched by Steve are invited to gather in reminiscing, grieving, and supporting one another through this time; please join the family at his Celebration of Life from 2:00PM to 3:00PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N Armistead Ave Hampton, VA 23666, followed by an interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
