Anna L. Bowers, 86 of Huntington passed away at 11:58 PM on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Norwoods Health & Rehabilitation Ctr. Mrs. Bowers worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney for several years. She grew up attending the Union Township School. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington where she taught in VBS, was a Sunday School Teacher, was a Youth Counselor for many years and was a part of the Kitchen Ministry for 30 years. Anna dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her own enjoyment. She was born on January 7, 1925 in Huntington a daughter of Ambrose and Effie (Kahlenbeck) DeHaven. She was united in marriage to Walter “Wally” Bowers on December 16, 1941 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1998. Survivors include – A son: Larry (Ann) W. Bowers of Huntington; a daughter: Mrs. Greg (Marilyn) Robrock of Huntington, 6 grandchildren: Carey Bowers, Kyle Bowers, Christy Oden, Karmen Olinger, Valerie Chaney and Brad Robrock and 16 great grandchildren: Hannah Bowers, Majal Bowers, Benjamin Bowers, Brittany Oden, LeAnna Oden, Spencer Oden, Jayden Oden, Hailey Oden, Conner Richards, Kayla Richards, Foster Chaney, Mavin Chaney, Madalyn Robrock, Morgan Robrock, Maisyn Robrock and Maxwell Robrock. A sister: Rheva Bare of Warren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers: Albert, Roy, Hank, Clarence, Charles, Homer and Jack DeHaven, and a sister Goldie Pasko. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 9 AM to 12 PM Noon at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd, Huntington, IN. Services will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2011 following the visitation at 12 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington with Pastor Gene Vickery officiating. Interment will take place in the Zion Cemetery in rural Huntington. Preferred memorials are to the Children’s Camp Fund of the First Church of the Nazarene in c/o Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
