Betty L. Schoeff

Betty L. (Cowin) Schoeff, 95 of Huntington passed away at 8:47 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester. Betty was a 1940 graduate of Huntington Township High School. She had worked at the City Water Department for 10 years, at H.K. Porter for many years; she also worked as the executive secretary for the Huntington Memorial Hospital for 6 years, retiring in the mid 1980’s. Betty was also a volunteer at Parkview Huntington Hospital for over 20 years. She was a life member of the Eastern Star and Women of the American Legion; she was also a member of the Penguin Club, St. Peter’s First Church and was past president of Church Women’s United. She loved to fish and have get-together’s with her family.
Betty was born on February 9, 1923 in Huntington, the daughter of Roy and Eva (Roth) Cowin.
She was united in marriage to Wallace E. Schoeff on December 21, 1941 in Huntington. Wallace preceded her in death on January 23, 1998.
Survivors include a son: Donald (Ruth) Schoeff of Huntington; a daughter: Kathy (Mike) Hamm of Martinsville, IN; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Jim Schoeff; a sister: Helen Prough and a brother: Charles Cowin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:30 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Zen Hess and Pastor Richard Strick officiating.
Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made out to Indiana Elks Charity for Cancer Research, Multiple Sclerosis Association or to St. Peter’s First Church all in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
