Robert Gurnee Betchley

Robert G. Betchley, 98, of Plainfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2018. Robert was born on June 13, 1920 in Port Au Prince, Haiti, the son of the late Harold and Ella (Gardner) Betchley. In his younger days he spent his time boating and driving the latest car from one of the family car dealerships . He served his country as a WW II US Army Aircorp radioman and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in Burma. As a life time member of the Lions Club, he dedicated many hours serving his community. Robert cared for his family by working long and hard for many years as a food broker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years Constance.
Robert is survived by his children, Curtlan Betchley and his wife Pat of Avon, IN; his daughter, Christine Betchley of Port Angeles, Washington; grandchildren, Lucinda Vranizan and her husband Colin, Alexander Betchley and his wife Madison, and Reilly McVay; great-grandchildren, Kyla and Avery Betchley.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later time at the South Florida National Cemetery in Palm Beach County, Florida.
