Dorothy Irene Hankins

Dorothy Irene Hankins, 89, of Kokomo, passed away at 10:50 PM Saturday February 10, 2018 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo surrounded by her family. Born January 8, 1929 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of the late William Bryan Heathcoat and Nellie M. (Reynolds) Heathcoat. She was a 1947 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was employed with Delco Electronics for 33 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of U.A.W. Local # 292. She was an I.U. fan and enjoyed going to her grandkids games. She was a Jimmy Rayl and Elvis Presley fan. Survivors include daughters Kathy (Lynn) Jernagan of Kokomo and Jo Ellen Siefers of Russiaville; three grandchildren Messina (Shane) McGraw, Shannon Anderson, and Scott (Amy) Aeschliman and great grandchildren Charlotte Brianne, Jamie and Tori, Michael, Aubrey, Alexa, and Jo’siyah. There are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, also two brothers Jim Heathcoat and Charles Heathcoat; two sisters Shirley Massey and Margaret Anne Heathcoat. A special thanks to Community Howard Regional, Dr. Tracy Price, Wellbrooke of Kokomo, Guardian Angel Hospice, and all the doctors who cared for Dorothy. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday February 15, 2018 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street, Kokomo. Pastor Terry Russell will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Guardian Angel Hospice.
