James Lawrence

James “Jim” Lawrence, age 67 and of Kokomo, passed away on May 11, 2018. Jim was born on September 26, 1951 in Kokomo to the late Robert and Phyllis (Hobson) Lawrence. Jim graduated from Sharpsville Senior High School with the class of 1969. Shortly after graduating high school, Jim spent some time serving in the Army National Guard. He was employed as a mail handler for the United States Post Office in Kokomo and worked there for 22 years until he retired in 2011. On May 21, 1982, Jim was married to the love of his life, Diana (McClain) at Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Kokomo. Diana survives. Jim was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and IU basketball. He enjoyed competing in bowling as well as fishing. Most of all, Jim enjoyed spending his time with his family, and being around his brothers and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Diana, Jim is survived by his sons, Mike (Heather) Kenworthy, Richard Kenworthy, and Aaron Lawrence; stepdaughter, Rachel McClain; brothers, Joe (Vicki) Lawrence, Jerry (Lesia) Lawrence, Jeff Lawrence, and Jay Lawrence; and grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Logan, and Cole. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, John Lawrence. There will be a public visitation held for Jim at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15th from 11-1, with a funeral service immediately following.
