Obituary of Jerry Wayne Miller
Jerry Wayne Miller, 65, of Kokomo, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014, peacefully in his sleep at home with family by his side. He was born December 18, 1948 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. His parents are Charles and Arzola (Guy) Miller. Jerry graduated from Kokomo High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army. He attended a 4-year apprenticeship at Continental Steel Corporation where he received his Journeyman card as a Millwright. He took his general studies courses at Indiana University at Kokomo. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed motorcycles, hunting and fishing, and Native American and American War history. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He is survived by his wife, Oralia Miller, Kokomo; three children, Beira “Beta” Michelle Jones and husband Jim, Russiaville, H. David Miller and wife Grace, Fishers, and Aaron Miller and wife Holly, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Ian, Lily, Madison, Eli, Milo, Naomi and Rosemary; father, Charles Miller, Kokomo; brother, Jefferson Miller, Kokomo; biological sisters, Joyce Lindsey, Logansport, Judy Ross, Washington, and Kay Reef, Aurora, Colorado, whom he reconnected with later in life; nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Arzola Miller. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice Foundation.
