Obituary of John Dee Pormen
John Dee Pormen passed away at 4:20 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital in Johnstown, Colorado. He was born November 1, 1932 in Wabash County, Indiana. His parents were Roy Pormen and Golda Minor Pormen. He married Peggy Jean (Wooldridge) Pormen on February 17, 1957. He had two children, Mark Randall Pormen and Tracy (Baldo) Senstock, and two granddaughters, Dora Baldo and Maya Baldo. John graduated from Somerset High School in 1950 and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors in Marion, Indiana for 31 years. He was a 50 year member of the LaFontaine Masonic Lodge #295, a 25 year member of the Eastern Star, and a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana. He, along with his friend Larry Weaver, began the Mount Olive Boy Scout Troop 433 in 1964. He lived in Swayzee, Indiana for the majority of his adult life and moved to Greeley, Colorado in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his son, Mark; his daughter, Tracy, and her husband Patrick Senstock, and their daughters Dora and Maya. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two brothers. John and his wife traveled with friends and family throughout his life. A quiet and gentle man, he loved to laugh, spend time with family, and read novels. He enjoyed watching basketball games at the local high school and on television. He spent time tinkering in his workshop, playing with his dogs, and working on his computer. He loved life and loved the Colorado Mountains. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6th at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
