Nancy L Petro

Nancy R. Petro, 75, of Liberty died on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Nancy was born in Muncie, July 13, 1937, to David J. and Ruth Harris Ross. After graduating from Short High School in Liberty, she continued her education at Indiana University earning a B.A. Degree in Social Work. On August 3, 1956, she married Jerald Petro at the Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church. Nancy had spent 10 years working in the United Methodist Preschool and worked as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, but was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, reading, riding motorcycles, and fishing. The greatest love of her life was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her three children and their spouses: Jerald D. “Pete” Petro, II and Rhonda of Liberty; Becky L. McNabb and John of Clayton; Jeff Petro and Lori of Fort Wayne; two brothers: David J. Ross and Jane of Overland Park, KS and Dudley Ross and partner Charles “Bud” of Cincinnati, OH.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years on March 25, 2013; and an infant son, Michael Wayne Petro on December 31, 1958. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 17 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Scott Bell of Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Monday till time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
