Leonard Melvin Childress

Leonard Melvin Childress, 83, of Evington, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Medical Care Center. He was the husband of Janet Berg Childress. Born on June 14, 1931 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Leonard Delany Childress and Ola Layne Childress. Leonard retired from Virginia Maintenance Company. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters, Loretta Lloyd of Lynchburg, Joyce Campbell of Lynchburg, June Nash of Madison Heights, Patricia Guthrie of Madison Heights, and Sandra Jamerson and husband James of Lynchburg. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Melvin Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service till 8:30 pm.
