Obituary of Preston Nowlin Maddox
Preston Nowlin Maddox, 74, of Lynchburg and Stuarts Draft, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center. Twice married, he was the husband of Naomi Brooks-Maddox of Stuarts Draft and the late Geneva Miear Maddox. Born February 17, 1939 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Floyd Gilbert and Willie Martin Maddox and was also preceded in death by a son, Wade P. Maddox. He was the retired owner & operator of Maddox Enterprises and was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Cuban Crisis. Mr. Maddox attended Tree of Life Ministries and the Mountain View Mennonite Church in Lyndhurst. In addition to his wife, Mr. Maddox is survived by two daughters, Vanessa M. Harder and husband David and Michele M. Fletcher and husband Scott, both of Lynchburg; three step children, Tammy Weaver and husband Sid, Tanya Brooks, and John Brooks and wife Fern, all of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Edward N. Maddox and wife Dora of Amherst; a grandson, Collyn Fletcher; five step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all of the special family members, friends, customers and hospital staff for their many acts of kindness since Mr. Maddox’s accident in July. A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor J. Mike Dodson, the Rev. Glenwood Morgan, and the Rev. Earl Monroe officiating.
