Ralph Lawrence Blair
March 21, 1925 – January 19, 2014

Ralph Lawrence Blair, 88, of Lynchburg, passed away, Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of 68 years to Hilda Maddox Blair. Born March 21, 1925, in Norfolk, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel Joseph Blair and the late Alma Shateau Blair.
Ralph was a retired superintendent for BAT Masonry Company, where he served for 30 years. He was also a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees. Ralph also served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he served abroad on the USS Iowa for 2 ½ years. He was also a member of the Leesville Road Ruritan Club and the American Legion Post 16.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by three sons, Michael R. Blair (Anne) of Rustburg, Gary W. Blair of Forest and Terry D. Blair of Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Ryan Blair, Evan Blair Ivey Blair, Brandon Blair and Austin Blair; and numerous relatives in Norwood, NY.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m.., Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Bill Burleigh officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service from 12-1 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.
