Betty Jane Atkinson

Betty Jane Atkinson, 70, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Hazel Atkinson; and nephew, Brent T. Atkinson. Betty was a graduate of John Marshall High School. She retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and spent the last 19 years volunteering at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Betty was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Mechanicsville. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Roy T. Atkinson Jr. (Ann); nephew, Todd W. Atkinson; uncle, Albert K. Atkinson (Mary); very special friend, David Sims; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
