Obituary of Mildred G. Good
Mildred “Mickey” Buchanan Good, born June 2, 1931, to the late Charles J. and Ola Catherine Hottinger Buchanan, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Predeceased by husband, David B. Good, III; infant sister, Beatrice Catherine Buchanan; sister, Clota Buchanan Campbell; brother-in-law, Leonard Campbell; and beloved grandparents, Fannie Taylor Hottinger, Samuel Hottinger, Ida Coffman Buchanan, and James Buchanan. Survived by sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Keith Walker. December 31, 1949, I married the late David B. Good, III. We leave behind seven of the most caring, sharing, respectful, and responsible children any parents could ever want. They are: Mary Jo Hines (Wayne), Jean Fitzgerald (Dennis), Patricia Cuenin (Greg), “Cathy” Kelley (David), Peggy Good, David “Buddy” Good (Patty), and Michael Good; 20 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren, all very special to me! I was truly blessed, loved, comforted, strengthened, and led by God from birth. I have always loved my church, sports, sewing, lately cooking, reading, T.V., coloring, etc. I conducted in home selling parties, did the decennial census twice, plus off and on surveys followed by a permanent part time position doing the Consumer Price Index for the Census Bureau. I was a part time telephone enumerator supervisor plus some field work for The National Association of Departments of Agriculture. I was one of the first female letter carriers in this area. Before working outside the home, I babysat and sewed for people. In my spare time, I worked with children and youth activities at church, started girls' softball for my local community, and played softball until I was almost 60. No flowers please. Make donations to mental health or Bethlehem Baptist Church on Penick Road. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Penick Road. Burial will be private.
