Obituary of Clarence Monroe "Buddy" Asbill III
Clarence Monroe "Buddy" Asbill III, 79, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. A native of Anderson, SC, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Sugg Asbill, of Richmond, VA. He is survived by his five children, Howard A. Tillery and his wife, Mariann of High Point, NC, Catherine A. Kelly and her husband, Michael of Richmond, VA, Clarence Monroe "Bucky" Asbill IV of Lynchburg, VA, Benet A. Maher and her husband, John of Richmond, VA and William P. Asbill and his wife, Kaye of Rockville, VA. A beloved and devoted husband and father, he loved being "granddaddy Buddy" to his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister, Betty Anderson, of Raleigh, NC; and dear friends, Marjorie and Jack McLean of Richmond, VA. Buddy was a retired mechanical engineer and marketing manager for Robertshaw Controls and a holder of numerous patents. He was also an accomplished artist. Buddy served as an MP in the United States Army in Vienna, Austria from 1953-54, and served in the Reserves until 1961. A private memorial service will be held in Raleigh, NC.
