Georotha Jo Nance Nance Allen

Georotha Nance "Jo" Allen NEW ALBANY - Allen, Georotha "Jo" Nance, 97, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany. Jo was born June 27, 1913 in New Albany to the late George L. and Dorothy Hinkle Nance. She and her late husband, William D. Allen enjoyed many years of retirement in Lake Placid, Florida before returning to New Albany. She was a graduate of Jeffersonville High School and was the former secretary to the director of Internal Revenue for the State of Indiana. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany. Besides her husband and parents, Jo was also preceded in death by a brother, George L. Nance, Jr. Survivors include sister, Ruth Hancock of New Albany, IN, Maryann Birdsell of Lynchburg, VA; brother, Richard H. Nance (Anne) of Greenwood, IN; sister-in-law, Virginia Dawes of Southport, IN; brother-in-law, Leslie Allen of Scottsburg, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Kraft Funeral Chapel, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. Private interment will be alongside her husband in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
