LOUIS R. BAILEY, SR., 86 years of age, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 surrounded by his family. The son of the late Thomas and Clara (Didelot) Bailey, Louis was born January 2, 1926 in New Albany, Indiana. He retired from the old Indiana Bell Company, was a WWII Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post #35 in Jeffersonville, IN. Louis was also a member of the Cardinal Ritter Council of the Knights of Columbus in New Albany, Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Telephone Pioneers of America and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Ruth M. Bailey, Viola M. Bailey, Rose Teives and Thomas A. Bailey, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyce D. (Buse) Bailey; children, Kathleen Bailey of New Albany IN, Bridget Bailey of Clarksville IN, Maureen Voss (Mark) of Louisville KY, Patty Bailey of Louisville KY, Louis Bailey, Jr. (Cheryl) of Louisville KY,
Shawn Bailey (Tammy) of Wilmington NC, Tim Bailey (Robin) of Louisville KY, Erin Spear (John) of San Antonio TX and Michael Bailey of Clarksville IN; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
