Melvin G. Freiberger Jr.

MELVIN G. FREIBERGER, JR., 53 years of age, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mel was a former New Albany Fireman and also worked for the Valley Crest Company. He was born May 31, 1960 in New Albany, Indiana to Mel G. Freiberger Sr. and Sue (Bailey) and grew up in Floyds Knobs. Mel loved his wife, children, grandchild and family. He also loved hunting, fishing, the outdoors and especially riding his Harley Davidson. Mel was a member of the Cardinal Ritter Council K of C, Floyd County Token Club and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father Mel G. Freiberger, Sr. and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Yvette L. (Elswick) Freiberger; children, Brandon Freiberger and wife Julia, Tyler Freiberger and wife Ashley, Charlotte Elswick, Dennis Andres and wife Alana, and Samuel Andres; grandchild, Dennis Andres III; mother, Betty Lou Freiberger; brothers, Jim Freiberger and wife Cheryl, and Gregg Freiberger and wife Jennifer; and several nieces and nephews. Reception of family and friends will be from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 am Saturday at St. Mary of the Knobs Chapel with burial in the church cemetery. A Rosary Service will be held at 3 pm Friday at the funeral home.
