Nancy "Kathy" was my first born niece! She was special, even though we had not seen her for quite some time,My husband, Michael and I loved her very much! It saddened us deeply to read of her passing at
such an early age! God Bless her family and bring them His Comfort!

Last year was my first year at New Albany. It was also my first year as a full time counselor. To say I was a ball of nerves, is an understatement. Praise God that Nancy Givens was my direct administrator for my alphabet. She quickly took me under her wing. She invited me to a devotional time that happened before school everyday. She made me feel apart of the family. She instilled confidence in me.
The Lord knew that I would need her during such a difficult year. He knew how much I could learn from her.
I thank God for the short time I was able to work with Nancy. I pray to have at least half the faith that she did!

I am going to miss her smile. I'm a member of Canaan Christian church, and she was such a sweet and caring lady. I would always see her at church and she would always smile and wave at me. I was so shocked to hear of her passing. May she rest in heaven. -Sheila Green

I still remember the early 1980s when a bubbly teenager entered my data processing classroom. She was a wonderful student and I am thankful that even after high school our paths had occasion to cross. The last time I met Nancy was about 4-5 years ago at Sam’s Club in Clarksville, IN just before Christmas. Many years ago Nancy called me for some career advice. She wanted to be a counselor in education. Only a week or two later she called to thank me. New Albany Schools had hired her and she was so happy. I will miss you and so will a host of other people.

We have nothing but kind memories of the entire Givens family. My first memories of Nancy were from riding the school bus with her and Rhonda all through school. As Rhonda was a classmate, she is and always will be a lifelong friend, but Nancy as an upperclassman was a mentor that was always the "goto" person to answer questions about homework on that hour long buss ride home. They both started each school day with a smile and waved goodbye as we parted ways as the buss dropped them off at the end of the day. Judy worked with Cindy in the classroom for several years and always brought the sunshine with her each day. 🌞
Our hearts go out to the entire Givens family as the Lord has truly gained another angel with wings already earned long ago.
